Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Glen Wink.



Motion by Jim B, seconded by Gregg, to accept minutes.  Motion passed.

Will have full banquet report next month.  Motion by Ken to approve treasurer’s report, seconded by Steve.

Motion passed.


Þ   Banquet went well, full details at next meeting, it was decided to send letters to all members thanking them for coming also put web address on postcard and ask if anyone has an e-mail address that we could send newsletter to so more members could be kept up to date on what is going on with club.  Chad moved that we set April 2, 2009 for our next banquet, seconded by Gene.  Motion passed.  Committee is to get together and have a wrap up meeting and finalize date.

Þ   Ice Fishing Challenge, lost money on the challenge, made some on the raffle.  Each club should receive about 3,100.


Þ   Pheasant release will be after next meeting.  Release will be Sunday the 18th of May.

Þ   Jim B. will look into a display board for out projects to be displayed at various events.

Þ   Looking at getting new pamphlets made about our club.  We need to update booklet, each committee bring report next month.  Mark moved to have paragraph and pictures to president for next month, seconded by Chad.  Motion passed.  Glen, Belinda, Barb and Jim B will be on committee to put together new brochure booklet

Þ   May meeting will be at the hardwoods property to put up signs and tour property.  Dan will serve supper.  In case of bad weather meeting will be at the Bemo building.  Eat at 6:00 with meeting at 6:30 and then time to put up signs and tour property.

Þ   Jerry Engelbrecht called see about setting on committee for Art Engelbrecht scholarship and also on the Conservationist of the Year.  Mark moved to have Jerry sit on both committees, seconded by Stephen Henry.  Motion passed.

Þ   On the scholarship committee will be Dale Flesner, Dan Lindquist, Dwain Schuette, Bill Maynard and Jerry Engelbrecht.  On the Conservationist of the Year committee will be Cliff Emmert, Dwain Schuette, Mark Anderson, Jerry Engelbrecht and Stephen Henry.  Set up criteria for Conservationist of the year and Scholarships given by Viking Sportsmen.

Þ   We need to set up guidelines for committees for our events each year.  What gets done and the timeline for each event.

Þ   Pioneer Heritage Trust is having a tour on Sunday May 4th; anyone wanting to go on the tour should contact Vern Ostrom.

Þ   We need to get an article in the paper about the Conservationist of the Year award presented at our banquet.  This year’s recipient was Mert Larson.

Þ   Dedication for the property purchased by various groups will be on Saturday May 3rd at 1:00 P.M.  The metal building on the Williams property, it will be named the Roger Holmes Wildlife Management Area.  Expecting about 200 people.

Þ   Saturday May 3rd will be a benefit for Randy Buse who had a kidney transplant with some complications.  Request for Viking sportsmen to donate a jacket.  Motion by Dan, seconded by Arlene to donate jacket.  Motion passed.

Þ   Jr. Viking sportsmen will have annual trip, this year going to Carlos Avery wildlife management area, federal ammo plant and Sherburn national wildlife area.  Anyone wishing to go with contact Dan or Mark.

Þ   Senate citizen council for dedicated funding, we need to get Tory Westrom involved with this.

Þ   Web site, we are linked with Pheasants Forever, Sportsmen for Change, and Ducks Unlimited.  This is so we can set up for promotions, locally share info with them and pass info to each other.

Þ   Tom Osterberg sent info about VHS disease in fish.  Contact the fishing committee for more information about this.

Þ   Arlene suggested we get notebooks with the various projects in them and how to set up for each.
