Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Glen Wink.
SECRETARY’S REPORT
Motion by Stephen Henry to accept minutes, seconded by Ken. Motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT
General Checking Thrivent General Fund Habitat Day
$22,992.39 $71,385.88 $3,603.66
Prudential Scholarship Tree Account Ice Fishing Challenge
$11,335.47 $994.03 $113,000.00
We have $3,000.00 coming from the Ice Fishing Challenge. Motion by Gene to approve treasurer’s report, seconded by Jim S. Motion passed.
OLD BUSINESS
Þ Walleye stocking – Gene reported we are 400 lbs short of goal. We thanked Gene for all the hard work he has done on this project.
Þ Display board – Barb moved to spend up to $100 to have the board with pictures done in scrapbook fashion, will also have about us and the projects we are doing, seconded by Stephen Henry. Motion passed.
Þ Pamphlets – Glen has been putting some of this together, Mike Moore sent him what he had worked up a few years ago when we talked about updating the pamphlets. The committee is Glen, Belinda, Jim Baxter and Barb.
Þ Fair booth – see Belinda for a spot to help out, should have raffle tickets for the ice fishing challenge by then.
Þ Scholarship recipients – see if we can get them at the next meeting so we can get pictures of them.
Þ Banquet for next year – Jim Baxter talked with Allie at Holiday Inn, we penciled in April 2, 2009 with them, will be checking all options. Committee will get together soon to talk about it.
NEW BUSINESS
Þ Youth summer trap league – Jim Baxter moved to donate $500.00 to the league, seconded by Syl. Motion passed.
Þ Ice Fishing Challenge – Jim Stratton stated the challenge was meeting on Tuesday the 24th at the Bemo building at 7-7:30 p.m. Working on getting a major sponsor. The Hotel assn is adding 10,000 for advertising in the metro area, to encourage more participation from there. The challenge needs more Viking Sportsmen Members to help out with the event.
Þ Dale reported that Bill Maynard is looking into the gun safe, working with Shooting Sports Outlet.
Þ Jim Stratton would like to specify where the monies he gets from the matching funds from ITW. He would like it to go to Jr. Viking Sportsmen, and to purchase a digital camera to take pictures during the various events we hold each year with the remaining to go to the Boy Scouts camp.. Motion by Stephen, seconded by Paul to accept the money with those provisions. Motion passed
Þ Senior fishing starts at noon at Arrowwood on Wednesday July 9th, the monthly meeting will follow about 5:30. Come help if you can or come eat supper before the meeting.
Þ Barb will check with Alex Ag, the Country Store to see when the fall event is that they would like Viking Sportsmen to participate in with them.
Motion to adjourn by Gene, seconded by Ken. Motion passed.
