Bill taught biology in the Alexandria School District for 31 years. His love and appreciation for hunting, fishing and conservation lead to establishing the Junior Viking Sportsmen’s Club, culturing young men and women to understand the
value of our wetlands and eco systems. He was fundamental to many local projects, which included establishing the local goose population, building wood duck houses, and was a leader in both the Viking Sportsmen and Evansville Sportsmen clubs.  This scholarship is open to students in grade 12 at the following schools:  Alexandria, Brandon-Evansville, Parkers Prairie, Osakis and Minnewaska.  Check application for deadline.

Art Engelbrecht Environmental Education Scholarship
Established in 2007 by family and friends of Conservationist Arthur O. Engelbrecht. This scholarship will be given on a perpetual basis to qualified individuals pursuing higher education in the natural resources and environmental sciences.
It is awarded yearly to a student majoring in natural resources and environmental sciences, also based on achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, leadership service and legacy. Natural resources shall include, but not limited to, course studies in natural resources management, natural resources law enforcement and natural resources aviation.  This scholarship is open to any student in the State of Minnesota.  Check application for deadline.
